The Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Jacob MacDonald has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Massachusetts Lowell in the Hockey Eastern Conference. .
McDonald, 19, is in his second full season in the NAHL with the Brahmas. The Fort Worth, Texas, native made his Lone Star debut in the 2021-22 season, recording an assist in five games played as a call-up from the Dallas Stars Elite 18U squad. Jacob played in 44 games the following season, recording five goals and 11 assists. He also recorded assists in five Robertson Cup playoff games.
“I am extremely proud and honored to announce my decision to play Division 1 hockey and further my education at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. I want to thank everyone,” McDonald said.
This season, McDonald has increased his production, increasing his production at almost a points-per-game pace. He played in 44 regular season games and had 22 goals and 19 assists. He was also a major contributor to Lone Star's early success in the 2024 Robertson Cup Playoffs, scoring six points (two goals, four assists) in six games.
McDonald was selected to participate in the 2024 Top Prospect Tournament and represented Team South. He becomes his 10th Brahma player scheduled to play Division I hockey in the future. He joins five other NAHLers scheduled to play at the University of Massachusetts Lowell under head coach Norm Bazin.
