Las Cruces, New Mexico – On May 4, the Aggies defeated Conference USA leader Los Angeles Tech, 16-15, in 13 innings at Presley Askew Field. Keith Jones II made another big splash in the 13th inning, leading off with a double, but then advanced on a ground out, allowing Los Angeles Tech to score on Jones on a wild pitch, giving the Aggies their eighth conference win.
After trading two runs in the first inning, the Aggies took their first lead of the series on Austin Corbett's RBI double. The lead didn't last long, as LA Tech managed to score eight runs over the next four innings.
Down 9-2, the Aggies started fighting back in the bottom of the seventh inning. Galina hit a two-run home run to left-center field, the 35th of his career. In the 8th inning, Los Angeles Tech added another run with a solo home run.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Aggies scored six runs in their most explosive inning of the game, tying the game. After issuing three consecutive walks to lead off the inning, the Aggies had the bases loaded. Jones singled to right field, scoring a run.
With the bases still loaded, Gallina was hit by a pitch for the Aggies' second run of the inning. Catcher Nick Gore stepped up to the plate and hit a shot over the left field wall, tying the score at 10 apiece.
In the 9th inning, the Bulldogs added 4 runs with an RBI single and a 3-run home run. The Aggies needed to score four points to extend the game, which they accomplished. After a walk, a single, and a hit by a pitch, the Aggies had the bases loaded again. Jones then hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Damone Hale. With runners on first and third base, Titus Dumitru hit his second home run of the game and fourth of the series, sending the game into overtime.
In the scoreless 10th inning, LA Tech hit a solo home run to take the lead by one point. The Aggies answered that RBI with Garina's second home run of the game and 36th of his career, ranking him eighth in career home runs among all Aggies.
The Aggies finished the 12th inning scoreless and held the Bulldogs scoreless until the top of the 13th inning. Jones took the lead in the bottom of the 13th inning with a double to left-center field. Jones then grounded out and advanced to third base. Then, a Los Angeles Tech pitcher made a wild pitch, allowing Jones to score and giving the Aggies the win.
