FRISCO, Texas — Four members have been elected to the 2024 National Soccer Hall of Fame class. They are United Soccer League founder Francisco Marcos, U.S. Women's National Team midfielder Tisha Venturini Hoch, Paralympic athlete Josh McKinney, and Tim Howard. Players are chosen by votes from players, veterans, and builders.
Howard and McKinney were both selected as 20-player finalists.
Howard made 119 USMNT starts and 121 caps in 15 years, featured in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, played in Major League Soccer and overseas in the English Premier League, and earned his qualifications as a result. He was inducted into the HOF in his first year.
McKinney was born with cerebral palsy and is the first member of an expanded national team to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He scored 81 goals in 124 caps over 19 years, captained the U.S. national team 72 times, and competed in three Paralympics in 1996, 2004 and 2012, where he also won a bronze medal.
Venturini-Hoch was elected by the veterans vote. She won the tiebreaker among 10 veteran finalists, with her and Chris Armas tied for the most points in the primary voting screening.
She represented the United States in two World Cups, competed in the Olympics as part of the winning 1999 World Cup team, won a gold medal at the 1996 Games, and finished her USWNT career with 134 caps and 47 goals.
