Legendary fighter Eddie Hall has announced that he will make his long-awaited MMA debut next month in a 2-on-1 “Freak Fight.”
The 2017 World's Strongest Man winner has been training inside the cage for months in preparation for his boxing debut in 2022. Hall was originally scheduled to compete in a four-a-side tournament in February that included fellow powerhouses Mitchell Hooper and Brian Shaw. However, negotiations broke down.
The hulking 362-pound Brit is one of the most famous deadlifters in the world and is keen to show off his fighting abilities. He will get that chance on June 7th when they take on the Nefferty Brothers in Blackburn.
Eddie Hall confirms first MMA fight with Nefferty Brothers
A new fight promotion called the World Freak Fight League will be held for the first time on June 7th at King George's Hall in Blackburn. The centerpiece of the bill will be a 2-on-1 MMA bout between Eddie Hall and the Nefferty brothers Jamil & Jamel.
Hall is 6-foot-2, making him the equivalent of a super heavyweight, but he could drop from 362 pounds to 313 pounds like he did in his boxing debut in 2022. Meanwhile, the Nefferty Brothers claim he is only 5-foot-3 and 145 pounds. Each going into the match means their combined weight will likely be less than Hall's.
The brothers previously competed at a Fame MMA event in Poland, where they faced off against another brother named Wojat and Wozniak. They won a freakish match with both brothers getting stops, but they will face a tough test against Hall.
Eddie Hall wants to prove himself after losing in boxing debut
The legendary boxer took up his boxing bow in March 2020 when he faced long-time rival Hafthor Bjornsson in Dubai. He dropped the much larger Bjornsson, but also fell to the floor multiple times himself, losing by unanimous decision.
Since then, Hall has been focused on many other things, but his thirst for fighting could not be satisfied and he began training for the cage. However, his first tour with the Qatari national team was cancelled.
Instead, he chose to sign with Britain's World Freak Fight League. The trio confirmed at a press conference yesterday that they would fight via satellite and that they would fight over three rounds, although the time of the fight was not confirmed.
The event will feature a series of unusual matches, including a boxing match with no rounds or time limits. There will also be a match between the two dwarves, as well as battles between Ed Sheeran look-alike and X Factor winner Myles Stephenson of Rak Soo.
Eddie Hall breaks Francis Ngannou and Alex Pereira's punching power records
The Nefferty Brothers have fought before, but never before had they been punched by a giant super heavyweight like Hall. The strongman recently visited the UFC Performance Institute where he tested out the PowerKube.
This high-tech device measures the force of a punch in units and calculates a score based on various factors such as strength and speed. Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou scored 129,161 points, a record that stood for many years until it was broken by middleweight Joe Pifer's 170,218 points.
Pifer's record was hotly debated, but it was broken by middleweight and light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who scored 191,796 points. However, that was blown away by a big punch from Hall, who was ranked 208,901st.
