– In the women’s game, the Raiders took two early penalties as Chloe Vielette stumbled in the box on consecutive plays. On the first penalty shootout, Kenna Meyer's shot bounced off the goalie and caused a fumble, but the Raiders were unable to convert the rebound. On the second penalty shootout, Meyer fired a shot into the corner for his 17th point of the season, giving the Raiders the victory. They led 1-0 just 12 minutes and 8 seconds into the game. Both teams battled for scores until Haley Good's attack tied the score with 7:39 left in the first half. The game goes into the break tied at 1 point.
In the second half, the Cyclones connected with a quick pass, and Carly Torneten hit the far post, but picked up a friendly bullet and made it 2-1 Cyclones. The Cyclones scored once again in the game when Torneten scored his second goal with 16 minutes and 2 seconds left to give the Cyclones a 3-1 lead. The Cyclones went on to win 3-1. With this loss, the Raiders' winning streak ended at 3 and they now have 6 wins and 5 losses, while the Cyclones moved up to 7 wins and 7 losses with the win, ending their 4 consecutive losing streak. What's next: The East Sac County girls will play Greene County on Friday night, and the game will be broadcast on KKIA.
– In the boys game, Fort Dodge scored the first goal to take a 1-0 lead. Late in the first half, Isaiah Aragón tied the game with a penalty goal, making it 1-1. The Dodgers exploded for the next four goals of the game to take a 5-1 lead. The Raiders finally got a goal in the first half with a goal from Luke Wright, making it 5-2 at halftime.
The Raiders will play better defensively in the second half and will likely find some clutch goals. The Raiders cut the lead to 5-3 on Asher Lawler's goal with an assist from Riley Aragon. Late in the second half, Isaiah Aragon scored his second goal of the game, bringing the Raiders back up one point at 5-4. The Raiders would unbelievably score the game-tying goal with five minutes remaining when Sam Schmidt found the back of the net to tie the game at 5-5. If that happens, the game will go into overtime. The game went back and forth in overtime, and Carson Schmidt scored the winning goal off Sam Schmidt (Sam's second goal of the game), giving the brother-sister duo the golden goal and the Raiders winning 6-5.
The four-point reversal brought the Raiders to 4 wins and 3 losses, while the Dodgers fell to 1 win and 8 losses after the loss. This is the first time in series history that the Raider boys have defeated the Dodgers.
