2024 National Women's Soccer League This season marks the first time that each team in the league has a record seven international roster spots. The league has a wide variety of players, with international players taking his NWSL season by storm with a new level of competition.
International sets the standard
Previously, the NWSL allowed five international players per roster, but with U.S. Soccer's approval, that number has been increased to seven for the 2024 season.
In the opening weeks of the regular season, the competition for the Golden Boot race is already off to a strong start. Overall, players across the league have surpassed 100 goals in just over a month since the start of the season. As the level of play increases, so do the stakes for the Golden Boot. Currently, four international players are tied for second in the NWSL rankings for most goals scored, behind Sophia Smith with seven goals.
