Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Just a few weeks ago at UFC 300, former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira suffered a split decision loss to rising rival Arman Tsarukyan. It was a close battle against a great opponent, but it was the first time since December 2017 that “De Bronx” lost in a non-title match.
With this loss, Oliveira has lost two of his last three matches. The Brazilian wants to get back into action and get back in the win column soon, and has hinted at a possible jump to welterweight for a high-profile bout. He hopes to return in the summer and recently offered Mateusz Gamlot to be his next dance partner.
Oliveira isn't that interested.
When asked about the fight with Gamlot, Oliveira replied: he is doing a great job. With all due respect, I'm not looking back, I'm just looking forward…Everyone wants to fight Charles now, everyone wants to fight someone who's up front. That's what I think. That's part of it, let it happen. You should always be prepared, but I don't think so. We have to think properly and see what works. That may be positive, but I don't think that's the case right now. ”
In other words, thank you, but no thanks.
Currently, Gamlot is ranked fifth at 155 pounds, meaning pulling him off would still be an important win for the former champion moving him closer to the title. However, he is far from a big name in the lightweight division. If Oliveira is motivated by scoring big fights above all else, it's understandable why he would want to consider his options before deciding on “Gamer” as his comeback.
July and August aren't that far away, so expect “De Bronx” to get an opponent sooner or later.

I like the idea of One Championship's hydration tests, but it's a shame that title fights are often interrupted due to scale.

Featherweight BBB banger alert!
Are virtual competitions the real future of martial arts? How many decades will it be before all brain injuries are merely theoretical?
I know plenty of MMA fighters who have lied in the cage or worn contacts, but I can't say I've ever heard of someone who soaked their feet in honey.
Rampage Jackson says the octagonal canvas was so slippery at times that he had to apply honey to the soles of his feet.

The war over banana trees continues.
Jon Jones reacts to terminally ill online MMA Twitter dude posting 40-minute conspiracy video about being gay:
It's crazy that we live in a world where influencers can woo boys on the internet. Literally just some random loser with a microphone in his basement. People can say whatever they want these days, and I find that fascinating.

Fighting off the ropes is a better option than just standing there, but that doesn't make it any safer.
