Wilmington High School has a vacancy for the boys soccer director position.
Kevin Hill resigned as head coach of the Greyhounds, his resignation accepted on April 23rd.
“First of all, my son (Colin Hill) finally chose a college. He's a senior this year, so he decided to go to Allegheny to play football. It's really just a matter of time,” Hill said. He spoke about the reasons for his resignation. “I love coaching, but I thought it was very important to see my son continue to play. I played a few games when my daughter (Madeline Hill) was in school. I missed it. I want my kids to do their best and give it their all. I thought it was unfair to not offer the same.”
Hill, who was hired in 2016, led Wilmington to the District 10, Class 1A championship this season, but lost 6-1 to Seneca. He said he “absolutely enjoyed” his time with the program, adding, “Over the past three years we've been very successful and had a great group of kids and they worked hard. Looking back, It would have been nice to win a D10 title, but that just wasn't in the cards for us. I wish we had more hours in the day and more days in the week to keep it going. We thought it was only fair to allow the school to pursue candidates who would give it their all.”
What's next for Hill?
“I'm going to be a father,” he said. “I've been coaching soccer at various levels for 17 years, so you don't have to prepare or strategize, you just sit in the stands and watch, cheer and cheer, and you'll be satisfied.'' I don't know how well that will work out. That's the plan for this season, enjoy it son. I'll still get up to school and cheer on the Hounds. The future is still bright. .”
