LOUISVILLE, KY —The 20th/15th ranked Virginia Tech Hokies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there, earning a 4-3 victory over the Louisville Cardinals on Sunday.

The left-hander pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit, one walk, and three strikeouts. 2nd grade Lindsey Grain He started the game and pitched a shutout in three innings with two hits, no walks, and four strikeouts.
Senior Addie Green He led the Hokies' attack and had one hit in two at bats with a home run, two walks, and one RBI.Senior emma ritter He also had an outstanding performance at the dish, recording one hit in three at-bats, a double, a walk, and two RBIs.Senior Maya Louko He also contributed, going 3-for-3 at Virginia Tech.

The Hokies started scoring early, adding one run in the top of the first inning. Green hit a one-out solo home run off freshman Brooke Gray to lead Virginia Tech to the victory.
The Cardinals were unable to score until the fifth inning, when the Hokies extended their lead. Virginia Tech scored twice from Louisville's pitching staff, punctuated by Ritter's scoring double, making the score 3-0 in favor of the Hokies.
Virginia Tech held Louisville scoreless and built a 4-0 lead in the next inning. Louisville put three points on the scoreboard before the end of the game, but Virginia Tech still hung on and won 4-3.
