Jerry Seinfeld is probably the most famous New York Mets fan celebrity.
During his hit show, seinfeld She falls in love with George Costanza (Jason Alexander), who works as a traveling secretary for the New York Yankees, but ends up guest starring as himself and becomes the object of Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus)'s unrequited love. was Keith Hernandez.
And during a recent appearance rich eisen show, Seinfeld, a self-proclaimed fan of Hernandez, revealed the story behind his iconic cameo. Seinfeld initially stated that he did not personally request Hernandez, but revealed that perhaps his “admiration for men” influenced the casting choice.
He also described Hernandez with genuine affection and expressed his continued admiration for the former Met.
“The idea was, if I could make this story about Jerry trying to seduce me, who would be the ultimate prey for me? “It's the story of Jerry trying to seduce the desire to be with someone who is a hero or a hero,” Seinfeld told Eisen. “And for me, a Mets fan like you, Keith in 1990 was my idol. He was my hero. I loved him captaining the infield. He He was a great team captain.”
“Of course he didn't know what he was saying yes to,” Seinfeld explained. “That day was the only day I was working on this series, and I changed my shirt twice near my house before I drove home. It was like a big date. I was so excited to meet him. did.”
“By the way, I still love that guy,” he added. “Of course, love that person.”
Mr. Eisen and Mr. Seinfeld agreed that Mr. Hernandez is doing an “amazing” job on the SNY broadcast alongside Ron Darling and Gary Cohen. Seinfeld then asked Eisen, who happened to be a Yankees fan and was well aware of GKR's talent, a hypothetical question if he could trade his beloved broadcast booth for the World Series.
“Absolutely not,” Seinfeld said, “because it's three hours of entertainment every night for me.”
Let's leave a record here. Eisen describes himself as someone who will talk through the roof, but he never intended to trade Gary, Keith or Ron. He values the booth and the station. And so is Seinfeld.
Seinfeld has been a regular at the SNY booth for years and knows his admiration for Gary, Keith and Ron is mutual. Cohen, seinfeld Fans themselves frequently make references to the show, and Hernandez's guest appearance is widely considered to be the show's biggest cameo. So for Seinfeld, it's a dream come true to do it with the people responsible for soundtracking his April-September baseball season.
So he probably won't trade them for the World Series either.
“This is an Olympic gold medal we have here,” Seinfeld said of the SNY booth.
