Montgomery Academy advances to Class 6A
Montgomery Academy boys and girls defeated Pike Road and will travel to Spanish Fort for a third-round matchup.
The women's team was led by Sophia Cho and Kerstin Daniel, who each scored a goal, defeating the Patriots 2-0. John Allen Rackney scored the winning goal, leading the boys team to a 3-2 victory.
As Catholicism and the Trinity fall, St. James moves forward.
The St. James boys and girls teams shut out Prattville Christian to advance and face Tuscaloosa Academy in the third round.
Catholic boys and girls from Montgomery fell in Orange Beach. The girls team lost her 2-1, but Erin Owens scored the only goal of the night. Goaltender Heather Walski made 16 saves and scored two goals.
The Trinity boys and girls team lost to St. Michael Catholic and will play Orange Beach in the next round.
Other River Region Playoff Scores
The Marbury girls defeated Elmore County, 3-2, and Sylacauga defeated Brewbaker Institute of Technology, 4-1. The Brewbaker Boys defeated Sylacauga 1-0.
