Tom Aspinall is venting his frustration with what he calls an “absolutely terrible” start time for UFC 304.
UFC 304 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 27th at Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England.
The pay-per-view event is scheduled to start at 10pm ET (3am UK).
Tom Aspinall (14-3 MMA) is expected to make an interim defense of his heavyweight title at this event.
Aspinall, 31, said of UFC 304 on his YouTube channel:
“Honestly, as an athlete and as a fighter, it doesn't make much of a difference. Up until a few weeks ago, I had to get up and train at that time or stay awake. I've traveled the world many times. I’ve been flying around and competing in different time zones, so it’s not that bad.”
Continuing, the Brit believes it's a terrible schedule for fight fans (h/t MMAMAnia):
“Would you want to watch it live as a fan? I think it's absolutely awful. I think it's unfair to the fans, and I think it's unfair to the British fans. Obviously it's primarily an American audience, so if they're I understand that they want to sell in the afternoon, which is our evening time.''
In conclusion, Tom Aspinall said:
“Why can't the Americans be able to watch in the afternoon, but the English fans, the Manchester fans, the European fans, can't all fly in and fill this new arena? It's going to sell out regardless. We're very lucky to have a PPV in Manchester, but it's British MMA, so let's tune in on British time.”
Aspinall last fought, defeating Sergei Pavlovic (18-2 mixed martial arts) by knockout at UFC 295 last November.
Do you agree with Tom Aspinall that the timing should be changed for British fans?
