Normal, Illinois – The Illinois State football team has announced additional players. Erin Egolf (Air-in E-Golf) Appointed as an assistant coach to the coaching staff laurie derose and associate head coach paul meehan.
Egolf joins the Redbirds after a stellar career as the head coach of the Springfield University women's soccer program. Egolf is the winningest coach in UIS program history with a record of 53-66-19, and she led her team to three tournament berths in 2017, 2022 and 2023. Egolf said she was very familiar with the program as she had been an assistant coach since 2017. She was a player from fall 2013 to spring 2016, and she was a player from 2010 to 2013. She is also a former Redbird who played in her freshman campaign at Illinois State University in the fall of 2009.
“We are excited to welcome Erin Egolf to the Redbird family,” said DeRose. “In addition to her experience in the college game, Erin brings a passion and dedication to player development and a desire to compete. These traits and her energy make her a great addition to our staff. Concurrent with his coaching career, Egolf also served as the assistant athletic director at UIS starting in October 2023. She previously served as the 2022 Women's Golf NCAA Tournament Director, a member of the UIS Athletics Strategic Planning Committee, and UIS Housing Liaison. She also served as the athletic department, game manager for numerous athletic events at UIS, and a member of the research committee within the athletic department.
During his time at UIS, Egolf coached and mentored countless talented student-athletes, including Abby Delamorte '23, Sierra Chenek '21-'23, and Maggie Yulin '19, an All-Region selection and multiple All-Conference selections. . . Off the field, Egolf also coached his team in the classroom. During her tenure, she achieved a team graduation rate of 100%, a team GPA of over 3.4 each semester, and produced various Academic All-Conference honorees. Egolf's teams also won the National Soccer Coaches Association Team Academic Award each year she was at UIS.
“I would like to thank the staff and Coach DeRose for the opportunity to join the Redbird women’s soccer family,” Egolf said. “I am ready to get started and look forward to this new chapter for ISU Athletics and the Bloomington-Normal community.”
Prior to assuming the head coaching position, he served as an assistant coach for UIS soccer, where he planned training sessions, assisted in recruiting, ran the team's photo sessions, and helped maintain the team's academic standing. During her playing days, she was a starting center midfielder at UIS and was the all-time career goals leader and all-time career points leader.
As an undergraduate player on the team, Egolf was named to the GLVC All-Conference Second Team and All-Academic GLVC Team during his freshman year in 2010. He continued his success as a member of the GLVC All-Conference Third Team in 2011. -Team, All-GLVC Academic Team, All-Midwest Region Third Team, Women's College Scholar All-Central Honorable Mention Team, Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award recipient. In her final year, she earned her third All-Conference honor and also earned back honors on the Women's College Scholar All-Central team and All-GLVC on her Academic team.
Egolf returned to normal after playing as a starting center midfielder for the Redbirds in 2009 and as a member of the 2009 MVC All-Freshman team.
