Deadline to apply for free training is May 31, 2024
Ivy Tech/Jasper DuBois County Public Library is applying to Code/IT Academy, a 10-week upskilling program that helps Hoosiers gain in-demand technology skills and land higher-paying jobs. The reception was announced.
The Summer 2024 session will prepare participants to pass the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam. Code/IT is a partnership between The Mill of Monroe County, Regional Opportunity Initiatives (ROI), and Ivy Tech Bloomington.
“We are thrilled to offer this program in Dubois County,” said Christine Golden, director of the Jasper-Dubois County Public Library. “Classes will be held at the Jasper Public Library, 100 3rd Avenue in Jasper, and the classes will be livestreamed from Ivy Tech instructors in Bloomington. There will be facilitators to assist the class as participants work through the training together. There's great camaraderie and excitement. The course is completely free, and Code/IT covers the cost of the certification exam.”
Code/IT's free 10-week training prepares individuals for certifications and jobs in areas such as web development, IT management, CompTIA Security+, and Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner. Ivy Tech instructors teach three Code/IT sessions per year on a variety of high-demand topics. Participants attend study sessions, develop soft skills, and receive career coaching through the Ivy+ Career Link program.
Registration for sessions on AWS Cloud Practitioner is now open and will close on May 31, 2024. Classes begin on his June 11th and are held twice a week in the evening. Details and application forms are available at https://codeitacademy.org/.
“We're thrilled to be able to help people with this,” said Andy Lehman, director of accelerator programming at The Mill, the nonprofit entrepreneurship center that runs Code/IT Academy. “There are literally hundreds of thousands of technology jobs available in the United States. This is a great opportunity to start a promising career.”
Lehman said students often form study groups together to prepare for the exam, and the program covers the cost of the exam, including a second attempt if necessary.
