Ajman: The 5th Tenshin-ryu Heihou Seminar was held from April 20th to 21st at the Daitokan Dojo, an accredited Daito-ryu Aiki-Jujutsu branch in Ajman, with sessions on Japanese martial arts.
Tatsuyuki Ide, the 11th head of Tenshin-ryu Hyōpo, served as a lecturer and demonstrated his techniques to the seminar participants.
Tenshin-ryu Heihou is one of Japan's most traditional martial arts schools and includes a variety of martial arts that were founded around the Eiroku era.
Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu is a type of Jiu-Jitsu and is a system of unarmed combat and minor weapon techniques for defeating both armed and unarmed opponents.
“The two-day seminar featured several sessions on the technique of drawing the sword (iaijutsu) and the application of specific strikes and techniques. Another session involved using a wooden sword (bokuken) and practicing fencing. It was training to combine and apply techniques with partners,” Majid Salem Al Hammadi, founder of Daitokan Dojo Ajman, told Arab News Japan.
“At this seminar, there was a tameshigiri session in which Meijin Ide and the participants cut mats using a serious sword. At the seminar, a demonstration of Tenshin-ryu tactics was also held, and Meijin Ide gave a lecture to the audience. In front of the venue, we demonstrated a traditional Japanese musical instrument (shimasen) that expresses Japanese folklore and samurai art techniques,” he added.
Participants were given a certificate signed and stamped by Tenshinryu Hyōhō headquarters.
