College football performed its annual spring ritual, packing up and shipping out the latest crop of talent eligible for the professional ranks in the 2024 NFL Draft. After seven rounds in front of a historic crowd in Detroit, from Caleb Williams to Mr. Irrelevant, it's time to pick up the pieces and see which schools and conferences contributed the most to the league.
National champion Michigan State came close to matching the NFL draft record set by Georgia State two years ago, as the Wolverines fell two spots short of the 15 former Bulldogs they drafted in 2022. However, UM acquired the most players this year, keeping the pace of all college football programs.
This was a bittersweet outcome for the doomed Pac-12. The conference will essentially cease to exist this summer when college football's radical realignment becomes official. The league had 43 picks, exceeding the previous record of 39 in 2015, setting a record in the seven-round draft era.
And, as expected, the sport's blue bloodlines provided the most talent. Eighty-seven percent of his overall draft picks came from Power Five schools or Notre Dame. Here's what's going on nationally after the NFL Draft.
