With new head coach Anthony Noreen and the offseason well underway, the University of Miami RedHawks hockey program is looking to the future.
With the Noreen administration at the helm, the anticipation for the first season of games is palpable, offering a glimpse of the thrilling hockey action to come in 2024-2025.
All schools in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), including Miami, released their schedules to the public on April 22nd. With new teams joining the conference fray, there are plenty of interesting matchups and stories.
The 2024-25 schedule includes 34 games, 19 of which will be played at the Goggin Ice Center. This was the most games played in Oxford since the 2006-07 season, when Miami went 26-9-4 overall and had a Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) record of 20-6-2.
The RedHawks will play all of their conference opponents, but will only play some teams once. They will not play the University of Colorado Tigers or St. Cloud State University Huskies. However, they will not visit the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks or the new team on the block, the Arizona State University Sun Devils.
As per tradition, the RedHawks will open the regular season with several non-conference games. On Saturday, October 5th and Sunday, October 6th, they will begin their second consecutive season on the road against the Ferris State University Bulldogs.
He then returns to Oxford to open the season at home Oct. 11-12 with a weekend series against the University of Alaska Anchorage, followed by the Home & Home Showcase on Thursday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 17 in Oxford. will be held. On the 19th, they played against the Robert Morris University Colonials in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
The final two non-conference series will be at home against the Lindenwood University Lions and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers on the last weekend of October and first weekend of November.
Following back-to-back weekend series at home, the RedHawks begin the remainder of their schedule only against NCHC. There will also be no back-to-back home or away series for the remainder of the season.
St. Cloud State is the Redhawks' first conference opponent in 2024-25, with games to be played Nov. 8 and 9. Then the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs come to town for their only home series in November, with the team leaving the following weekend. For the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Before students go on winter break and the 2024 calendar year ends, Miami will take on the reigning Penrose Cup champion North Dakota Fighting Hawks in Oxford.
Half of the 2025 calendar has plenty of tough conference matchups for the RedHawks. The RedHawks will soon be tested in an away series against the 2024 national champion University of Denver Pioneers.

The RedHawks return home to play Omaha for the second and final time before playing on the road for the first time at Western Michigan University.
The last day of January and first day of February will be spent in Oxford, where Miami will take on Arizona State, a freshman program in the NCHC. Miami played Arizona State at home last season before officially joining the conference.
The two full series in February will include the first and only matchup between the Redhawks and the University of Colorado, and the second game (at home) between Miami and Denver. Game 2 between Miami and Minnesota-Duluth will be played in Minnesota on February 28th and March 1st.
Before the postseason begins, the RedHawks will conclude the regular season at home against Western Michigan on March 7th and March 8th.
With the addition of Arizona State and nine other teams to the conference, the NCHC playoffs will look a little different. The play-in game between the 8th and 9th seeds will be played on March 12th before the quarterfinals, which will run from March 14th to 16th.
The NCAA Frozen Faceoff will be held March 21st and 22nd in St. Paul, Minnesota.
