IRVINE — Monterey Bay FC heads to Orange County with momentum, winning four straight and moving into second place in the United Soccer League Championship Western Conference.
But even though Orange County suffered its first loss of the season, it will be a formidable opponent Saturday at 7 p.m. at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
Union has 14 points with 4 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws. They beat Orange County 2-0 last week and are second to Sacramento with 15 points. Orange County is 3-1-3 with 12 points.
Monterey Bay FC scored two second-half goals to beat host Memphis 2-1.
Interestingly, Union and Sacramento do not meet in conference play until June 8th, but they are scheduled to meet in Sacramento on May 7th in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Union are undefeated on the road this season, outscoring their opponents 11-7. Tristan Traeger leads the Union with four goals, tied for fifth in the league. Mobi Fer leads Union with two assists, also tied for fifth in the league.
Meanwhile, Orange County outscored their opponents 9-6.
