DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – Approximately 60 sports enthusiasts attended a Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce event to officially welcome Dothan United Soccer Club during a ceremony at RIP Hughes Stadium.
During Thursday afternoon's event, it was announced that the players would arrive in Dothan on Saturday, April 27th and begin training camp on Wednesday, May 1st. Its members include the Wiregrass area, the United States, Colombia, Spain, Jamaica, and the United Kingdom.
Some of those players include Ty Powell and Mason Roe from Dothan, Jordan Schumacher from New Orleans, Louisiana, and Kai Louviere from Hondo, Texas.
“My hope is that by the end of this season, you can embrace my team, staff and players as Dothans and see them truly have Dothan blood in their veins,” head coach Carl Reynolds said. Ta.
Coach Reynolds and team owner Steve Donner said Circle City can expect great things from the Dragons this year.
“Our goal is to compete for a championship in our first year here in Dothan. That's what should be expected of us,” Donner said.
The Dragons will play a preseason game at home against the Braves SC in Florida on May 11th. The Dragons' first home game of the USL Division 2 season begins May 25th against Tennessee Soccer Club.
