BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — Shaolin Jazz, a group that mixes hip-hop music and martial arts movies in real time, is hosting “Can I Kick It?” The event was held at Paramount Bristol in August.
According to the group's website, “Shaolin Jazz produces events and creates content that highlights the intersection of hip-hop, jazz, and martial arts culture.” The group became known for its fusion of hip-hop, soul, and funk with its music and keystone martial arts films.
Key features of the group's “Can I Kick it?” The show is the live mixing of music during the screening of martial arts movies. At Paramount's show in Bristol, Bruce will screen Lee's “Enter the Dragon” and on stage he will have a DJ playing the film with music.
Shaolin Jazz is a group that's been around since 2011, where a creative mixtape idea turned into an award-winning show brand that tours to several notable venues across the United States. The group consists of Gerald Watson and his long-time collaborator DJ 2-Tone Jones.
Shaolin Jazz will perform “Can I Kick It?” The Paramount Bristol performance will take place on August 16 at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $19.53 to $47.50, according to the Paramount website.
