Ryan Garcia is targeting Isaac 'Pitbull' Cruz and Sebastian Fandora for his next fight following his upset win over Devin Haney last weekend.
A bout with WBA light welterweight champion Pitbull Cruz (26-2-1, 18 KOs) would be an easier and more logical matchup for Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs).
Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs), the 6-foot-5 1/2-inch WBO junior middleweight champion, was sidelined with a nose injury. When he returns to the ring, it will likely be against Errol Spence or in a rematch with Tim Tzu.
take a break
Ryan Garcia is reportedly taking some time off, and it's unclear if he'll be able to fight again until 2025. Ryan said on social media that he made about $50 million in total for his fight with Haney, including $12 million he says he made. He won on the $2 million he bet on himself.
If you look at the huge amount of money Ryan made from the Haney fight, and add in the $30 million he earned from this fight, his net worth is now close to $100 million.
That's a lot of material for a fighter who is considered the new “face of boxing” at just 25 years old. I don't think even Floyd Mayweather Jr. had $100 million when he was Ryan's age, but that goes to show how much the sport has changed since Floyd's days, way back in the Jurassic era. .
potential opponent
If the two men can agree on a weight, Pitbull Cruz will be a big fight for Ryan Garcia. At 5-foot-4, Cruz is essentially a souped-up lightweight, but he's undersized for a 140-pounder and will give Ryan a lot of size.
Cruz's last fight in March saw him stop WBA light welterweight champion Rolando “Laurie” Romero in eight rounds in a one-sided mismatch. It was an impressive performance by Cruz, but he was facing what many boxing fans saw as a textbook example of a paper champion. Rory was really bad and clearly didn't deserve to be champion.
The lanky “Towering Inferno” Fandora will be a difficult fight for Ryan due to his height, reach and workload. Ryan may have a hard time dealing with the 80 to 100 punches Fandora throws each round, as he won't be able to take breaks like he did against Haney.
