Last week, the college football world got a glimpse of the Seminoles this fall and in 2024 during spring football activities. The fan base opened up to get a glimpse of what the team would be like when they suit up in September, and for the Florida State Seminoles, it was a chance to see a new team ready for an ACC Championship rematch.

Many of the Noles have embarked on new ventures for the 2023 season, with the majority of their production going to the NFL. DJ Uiagalelei, who transferred from Oregon State, was appointed under center. We have a new wide receiver corps. The running back room looks fresh. This is a new group, although there is a lot of talent looking to compete at the highest level.
After spring games concluded, 247Sports released the top 25 for the 2024 college football season starting in the spring. The Seminoles were ranked 18th before spring, but have moved up seven spots to 11th.
“Mike Norvell is the transfer portal guru and has once again ensured the Seminoles are one of the top rosters in the ACC. With an elite signing class to combine with the portal additions, Norvell , showed off his offseason expertise with another reload of talent and should be one of the “coaches to benefit greatly from the expanded playoffs,” 247Sports' Brad Crawford wrote.
With a 12-team playoff format being used for the first time, there is no doubt that Norvell has enough talent to make a shot at a national championship. An 11th ranking would keep Florida State in position to compete for the playoffs.
“Former Oregon State and Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei learned the offense quickly and had a variety of weapons,” Crawford continued. “FSU’s defensive back seven is also very athletic.”
Having a veteran like Uiagalelei take over the program would help fill the gap after Jordan Travis becomes ineligible. At the same time, the other young Seminole talent developing under this system is more than ideal, and it showed in the spring contest. It's hard to imagine Florida State taking a major step back as a program.
Norvell certainly seems to have a chance to prove himself among college football's elite head coaches and show why he deserves a contract extension and the raise he received this offseason.
