Simply put, the King Philip Regional High Warriors and Bishop Feehan High Shamrocks were mainstays on the area's high school girls hockey stage last season.
The two MIAA state tournament participants had a combined record of 26-19-3 and were each named to the Sun Chronicle's 2023-24 Girls Hockey All-Star Team.
King Philip finished the season with a 15-9-0 record after the Warriors went 14-8-0 in the regular season, outscoring their opponents 83-55 and earning a postseason victory in the MIAA Division 2 tournament. Kelly Holmes, the Hockomock League MVP and multiple Sun Chronicle All-Star, scored 31 goals and 16 assists in his senior season and topped King Philip's offense with an area-leading 47 points.
Senior co-captain and defenseman Mara Boldy anchored the Warriors' blue line, while fellow senior co-captain Nikki McDonald capped off her four-year varsity career with 13 assists and two goals. The Warriors also boast three first-time award winners. Sophomore goaltender Kiki Lynch had a .921 save percentage on 755 shots, sophomore blueliner Lydia Maxwell had six goals and 13 assists, and freshman forward , Annabelle Curran's 28 points ranked second on the team behind Holmes.
The Shamrocks went 11-10-3 this season in the first round of the Division 1 tournament, led by freshman forward Georgia Murray, who had 11 goals and 12 assists in her debut for a team-high 23 points.
Feehan also relied on senior co-captain Caitlin Kelly, a two-time Catholic Central League All-Star, who led Feehan to eight points with 13 assists. Fellow senior captain Molly Bulaga finished second on the Shamrocks in goals with 10 goals and 10 assists.
Fourth-year starting defenseman Allison Stiles led Bishop Feehan with 13 points, third-year forward Chloe Breida had 10 goals and eight assists, and sophomore goaltender Aviva Olitsky had a .922 save percentage with four shutouts. Marked.
