Andrew Price made his Iowa football visit at the right time. The West Des Moines Valley High School senior had Saturday's spring ball training inside the team stadium instead of at the practice facility.
“We were lucky they were practicing at Kinnick,” he told HN. “It was fun to be able to watch live practice up close at the stadium.”
Price (6-1, 195) receives inside information about the Hawkeyes from his older brother Aiden Price, a true freshman on the team.
“Aiden says it's a big commitment, but he enjoys the high level of competition,” Andrew said.
Eiden reported he has scholarship offers from Air Force, Army, Dartmouth, North Dakota State and Northern Iowa. He chose to pay his own money and test himself at the highest level.
“Playing with Aiden at Kinnick is definitely going to be special,” Andrew said.
Safety Andrew plans to visit Iowa State again this Saturday for an open practice in Kinnick. He also attended camp with the Hawkeyes this summer.
Iowa State and two-time FCS champion South Dakota State recently hosted Price for a campus visit. He is scheduled to visit northern Iowa later this week.
“West Point and the Air Force have been in contact this spring,” he said.
Price recorded 41.5 tackles (37 solo, 6.5 tackles for loss) as a junior last fall. He had 20 solo stops and two interceptions in '22. The Tigers have reached the state semifinals the past two years.
The Hawkeyes spoke with their guests and expressed their interest. If you do well at summer camp, you might be able to get an offer.
“I hope after talking to them Saturday that they feel I can contribute to a dominant Iowa defense,” he said.
Like his older brother, Price also gives his all in his junior highlight videos. He sees plays quickly and plays fast.
