“I am truly excited about the opportunity to leverage my expertise in staff coordination, hiring, scheduling, and supervision to advance the ranks of staff within MIAC,” said Elam.
Elam served on MIAC officials from 1998 to 2019 and was named Hockey Officials Coordinator for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in 2019. He brings more than 30 years of executive experience to his new role at MIAC.
“We are very excited to welcome Michael as the hockey authority's new coordinator,” said MIAC Commissioner Dan McCain. “He knows our conference and officials well and will be a great asset to both men's and women's hockey in the MIAC.”
In addition to his 22 years of NCAA officiating experience, including two Division III men's Frozen Fours and two Division I women's Frozen Fours, Elam has also officiated at the high school and USA Hockey levels. He is employed as a manager at Forest Lake Area Schools' Ice Arena and is a past president of the Minneapolis Hockey Officials Association.
Mr. Elam will continue to be appointed to WIAC and will begin his term at MIAC immediately.
