A University of Oregon football player has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a man, police said.
Daylen Austin, 19, was indicted Wednesday afternoon and charged with failure to comply with the duties of a driver in a crash that occurred in Eugene on Monday, according to the Eugene Register-Guard, part of the USA TODAY Network. .
The hit-and-run occurred just after 9 p.m. local time on Monday in a residential area about two miles northwest of downtown, Eugene Police Department spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin said. The city of Eugene is located in central Oregon, approximately 80 miles east of the Pacific Ocean.
Police said the person killed was a 46-year-old man, but did not release his name.
USA TODAY contacted police to find out if the man's next of kin had been notified.

Austin was arrested at his apartment about two hours after the fatal crash, McLaughlin told USA TODAY Thursday.
He was not being held on the Lane County Jail roster Thursday. It was not immediately known when the soccer player posted bail.
USA TODAY Network reached out to Austin criminal defense attorney Brian Border.
“We are aware of the incident and are awaiting additional information,” an Oregon State athletics department spokesperson told the Register-Guard via email Wednesday.

Who is Daylen Austin?
The redshirt freshman did not appear at Oregon's spring practice Tuesday morning, but has previously appeared throughout camp.
The 2023 recruit, who hails from Long Beach, California and attended Long Beach Poly High School, appeared in three games last fall, recording three tackles and one pass breakup.
Austin is scheduled to appear in court on May 22nd.
