NIKW Brunton Karate Belfast had a great day competing at the IKKU Tournament in Dublin.
This day's competition was devoted to free fighting, giving athletes the opportunity to focus on their fighting skills.
Brunton Karate Belfast lifted an impressive amount of silver medals: one winner medal, three runner-up medals and seven bronze medals.
Tierna Lavery won the championship title in the girls' 12-13 competition.
Anastasia Katina, on the other hand, won a silver medal in the 16-17 weight category and a bronze medal in the open weight category.
Shay Johnston won a silver medal in the 12-13 year old boys weight category and Sean Parker won a runner-up medal in the 10-11 year old boys weight group.
Caitlin McCracken won two bronze medals in the 16-17 girls category. One was for weight classes and the other was for open weight classes.
Bronze medals were won by Thomas Bell in the adult boys category, Oisin McAllister in the 12-13 year boys category, Alexandria Crowe in the 10-11 girls category and Fionn Rye in the 7-year-old boys category.
Former international fighter James Brunton coached the team that fought in Dublin and was pleased with their performance.
“It's great to see the team put the skills they've been working on into practice,” he said.
“All the competitive experience they have gained over the past few months has paid off and I am sure they will win many more medals in the future.”
