The University of Denver and University of Minnesota have combined for 15 national championships and 42 Frozen 4 appearances.
DENVER — The University of Denver hockey team will face the University of Minnesota in the 2025 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game.
DU Athletics announced that the game will be held on Thanksgiving weekend in 2025 at Ball Arena in Denver.
Denver and Minnesota are two of the winningest college hockey programs in history. The two teams combined for 15 national championships and 42 appearances in the Frozen Four. Denver and Minnesota last faced each other in 2023.
The exact date and time of the game will be announced after the NHL schedule is released. Tickets for the game start at $25.
“The University of Denver is honored to host the 2025 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game, which follows the University of Denver's 10th national championship and reignites the rivalry between two of college hockey's most storied programs. DU's Josh Barro said. Vice President for Athletics and Ritchie Center Operations; “During that holiday weekend, the eyes of the college hockey world will be on Denver and Ball Arena.”
This is the third time in history that the Denver hockey program will host the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game and the fourth time it will participate in the contest.
DU previously hosted games at Magness Arena in 2008 against Notre Dame and 2012 against Boston University.
“All of us at the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame and Museum are thrilled that two of college hockey's premier programs will face off in the Hall of Fame Game at Ball Arena in 2025,” said U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Director Doug. Parazzari said. “We would like to thank both schools for agreeing to participate in this prestigious event.”
“Our team is excited to compete in the 2025 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game against another great college hockey program in the state of Minnesota, and in Ball Arena, a great venue for our sport.” DU Hockey Head Coach David Karl said. “Having the opportunity to play against the University of Colorado in January 2023 and at our home NHL rink was a highlight for our program and our players that season. I know the Pioneers are excited to play again against another quality opponent in the Golden Gophers.”
