A new Limerick world champion returned this morning as a hero to the city's primary school where he works.
Hayley Keeley from Moyross was crowned ISKA World Kickboxer Champion last weekend.
She teaches at St. Mary's National School on Kings Island, where students and staff gathered this morning to welcome her home.
Hayley returned to school with her world championship belt alongside trainer Paul O'Brien.
Hayley Keeley holds multiple kickboxing and K1 titles, including Irish, Five Nations, European Championship and World Championship gold medals.
Appearing on Live 95 News from St. Mary's National School this morning, she said winning the world championship was a dream come true.
Hayley, a teacher at St Mary's National School, says she is passionate about supporting the next generation through both education and sport.
She trains with Paul O'Brien at Hub Martial Arts in the city. Paul has been involved in martial arts for over 20 years and has trained in kickboxing, boxing, Muay Thai, Kung Fu, Tae Bo, and weapons.

Hayley Keeley takes pride in passing on her wisdom and sporting knowledge to Limerick's younger generation, despite her own demanding training schedule.
She has been practicing martial arts for over 16 years and her world title means the world of professional kickboxing is now inevitable.
But despite the success, Mr. Keeley, or “Smiley Keeley” as he is known to his students, has no intention of abandoning the school he has grown to love.
