Loudoun County, Virginia – The Washington Commanders today announced the appointment of Dave Gardy as the team’s senior vice president of football initiatives.
Gardy joins the Commanders after 21 years in the NFL league office. He held the role of Senior Vice President of Football Operations for his 10th year. Prior to his appointment as senior vice president of football operations, he served as the league's vice president of labor relations and football administration. Mr. Gardi joined the league office as an advisor in 2003.
Mr. Gardi will be responsible for numerous in-game administrative duties, supporting the coaching staff and front office in adhering to league protocols, and directing trends and health and safety guidelines.

As the NFL's senior vice president of football operations, Gardy played a pivotal role in developing policies and procedures that help manage competitive balance and the integrity of the game. He also helped oversee all rules administration for the league on game days.

Prior to assuming his role in the Football Operations Division of the NFL League Office, Gardy advised clubs on matters related to player contracts, salary caps, club discipline, league policy, and the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement, including workers' compensation.
Gardy, a native of Sayville, New York, played four years as a quarterback at Brown University. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science while attending Brown University. Gardy also earned a Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University. While Gardy earned his law degree at Hofstra, his father Joe, who was his head coach at Hofstra's football program, assisted Gardy with his.
Gardy is married to his wife Michele and they have two children, Chase and Grayson.
