The Colorado women's soccer team will release its 2024 schedule as the Big 12 releases the league's full schedule, with the Buffaloes, Arizona State, Arizona State and Utah scheduled to join the conference this fall.
The Buffs will open the 2024 season with five straight home games, but their return season in the Big 12 begins with three straight road games, starting with the Kansas opener on Sept. 12 at Kansas State.
CU opens the season at home against North Texas on August 10th, and its opening five home games include a matchup against perennial power North Carolina on August 18th. The Tar Heels haven't visited Boulder since 1998.
The conference schedule is 11 games, so CU won't be playing a rotation of four league opponents every year. The Buffs will not play ASU, Arizona, BYU or Houston this fall.
Following the Big 12 opener at Kansas State, CU will play Oklahoma State and Iowa State before hosting a trifecta of league games, starting with a visit to Baylor University on Sept. 26.
Unlike the Pac-12, the Buffs have the opportunity to compete in the Big 12 league tournament, which begins Oct. 30 in Kansas City. The top 12 teams in the league qualify (the bottom four stay at home), and the top four receive first-round byes.
CU recently announced that seniors Rachel Rosen and Shyla James will return for a fifth season this fall.
“I couldn’t be more excited to advance to the Big 12 this year,” CU head coach Danny Sanchez said in a release. “It's a tough league from top to bottom. We've put together one of the most difficult non-conference schedules in CU history. National powers pose great challenges both domestically and on the road, leading us to conference play. Our supporters will be able to watch a great game at Plenup Field.”
