Georgia will conclude this year's spring practice with the annual 2024 GDay Spring Scrimmage, and the Bulldogs will move on to the offseason. The spring transfer portal window is now open, and Georgia is feeling the effects. Running back Andrew Paul has entered the transfer portal.
Paul is a member of Georgia's 2022 freshman class and got off to a strong start in his freshman season, but was sidelined for the year with a torn ACL. He returned from injury and had 129 yards and one touchdown on 29 attempts last season. Paul had a good performance in this year's GDay game with 44 rushing yards and one touchdown on four attempts. Unfortunately for Paul, Georgia's running back spots are deep this season, with Trevor Etienne, second-year Roderick Robinson, Branson Robinson nearing his return from injury, and three players in the 2024 class. Added running back.
Georgia lost a number of players to the portal immediately following the 2023 college football season. They also took a total of eight commitments from the portal and added them to their roster. With the spring season now underway, Georgia is expected to lose some players to the portal, but they are also keeping an eye on potential players they would like to add before the 2024 season officially begins.
Spring practice is a time to get a feel for where players are on the depth chart and what opportunities they will have as fall approaches. In some cases, this can be caused by the room being too deep. Since the Bulldogs have just become part of the college football world, it's not unusual for them to lose names during the spring season.
