The Denver Nuggets head to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies…or what's left of the Grizzlies, whose injury report takes up half of this webpage. Sadly, injuries were the dominant storyline of Memphis' season. They were 27-54 on the year and were without franchise superstar Ja Morant for all but nine games.
The Nuggets' record for the year is 56-25, which is exactly the same record as the Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves. This will be the first time in league history. three teamsthrough 81 games, all have the same record and a chance to earn the No. 1 seed in their respective conferences.
However, Minnesota and The Oklahoma City DO holds the tiebreaker with Denver and will advance if all three teams remain tied after Sunday's results. Oklahoma City will face the Dallas Mavericks, who are resting most of their players after clinching the No. 5 seed in the West. Minnesota is currently facing the Phoenix Suns, who are fighting for a spot in the play-in tournament.
Denver held a one-game lead over Minnesota and Oklahoma City after defeating the Timberwolves on Wednesday, but surrendered that advantage with an unexpected loss to the San Antonio Spurs (21-60) on Friday. Ta. The result of the tiebreaker made it more likely that the Nuggets would finish in third place.
We see most of Denver's rotation listed as questionable on the injury report. It's possible the team will take a more cautious approach in the final game of the season, given that the No. 3 seed is likely to take the field. That remains to be seen. If the situation changes on the injury front, we will update accordingly.
