Mixed martial arts fans are in for a treat when UFC 300 lands in Las Vegas on Saturday. This card features some of the biggest names from the preliminaries to the main event.
In the main event, Alex Pereira will defend his light heavyweight championship against former champion Jamahal Hill. Pereira is a former middleweight champion who won the light heavyweight title vacated by Jiri Prochaska's suspension in November. On the Hill, Pereira will face a man who never lost his title in the Octagon, but injured his ACL in a basketball game, forcing him to relinquish the title.
Additionally, women's strawweight champion Zhang Weili will look to defend her title once again in the co-main event against compatriot Yang Xiaonan. Weili is making her second appearance as champion at 115 pounds, soundly defeating Amanda Leamos in her last appearance. Meanwhile, Xiaonan earned a shot at the belt with two wins, including a first-round TKO over former champion Jessica Andrade in her last appearance.
The qualifying rounds are also well-rounded. A clash between light heavyweights Jiri Prochaska and Aleksandar Rakic could potentially determine the main event title challenger in the highly anticipated prelims. Former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling will make his featherweight debut against Calvin Kattar. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison will make her promotional debut against former bantamweight champion Holly Holm. And in the first bout on the card, Deibson Figueiredo takes on Cody Garbrandt in a bantamweight bout, pitting a pair of former champions against each other.
