Renato Moicano likes the idea of facing Paddy Pimblett after UFC 300, but hopes the promotion will jump-start his deal and fight a lower-ranked opponent at 155 pounds.
Moicano, who will face Jalin Turner this Saturday at UFC 300 in Las Vegas, spoke on MMA Fighting's. Trocassant Franca On the podcast, he said he would agree to an “easy fight” with the British sensation at the UFC pay-per-view in Manchester later this year. However, after defeating Turner at UFC 300, Moicano knows that facing Pimblett won't help him in his pursuit of a title shot other than to garner hype and money.
“We're going to have to make some changes,” Moicano said of the financial aspects of the UFC contract. “What's going to happen? Pay-per-view? We've got to make the wallets bigger. We'll bring the numbers. If we fight him in Manchester, we'll bring the numbers and people will take notice. 'Paddy. Is Pimblett really all that hype? Can he beat the top 15? [fighter]?'
“We'll give you the numbers, so let's see if the amount is appropriate. We can't do something like that. [Donald] Serane says he fought [Conor] McGregor for $200,000. I'm not comparing myself to Cerrone, [Pimblett] As I say to McGregor, there are people who want to pay, and there are people who want to receive money. ”
Moicano explained that he is not dissatisfied with his current wallet, adding: “I will make more money.” [money] To compete with guys like Drew Dober and Turner, it's a “different level” than people realize.
“There are a lot of people who want to meet Jalyn Turner, but there are a lot more people who want to meet Paddy Pimblett,” Moicano said. “It's all about numbers. We're going to have to look at the numbers and negotiate with the UFC and see what makes sense. You will give up the chance to fight, a match that would get you closer to the title, and instead fight someone with a lower rank.
“You're denying something to get something, so the financial reward has to be higher because there's demand. People are going to want to see it, so the UFC is giving me more money.” will have to be sent.”
Moicano joked that “tough guy” Pimblett only called him after the UFC announced his fight with Turner on April 13, but gave the British fighter a warning. .
“Paddy Pimblett is shit,” Moicano said. “If I fight him, I'm going to do something I've never done before. I'm going to hit him like a kid. [Laughs.] By the way, you should never hit your child. But I will beat him soundly. ”
The American Top Team lightweight believes Pimblett's hype has merit, but it's not because of his skill, but rather because of Pimblett's charisma and other factors.
Still, Moicano vows to show Pimblett that he doesn't belong in the top 15.
“It's difficult for him to win in the top 15.” [contender]” Moicano said. “A fight is a fight and you can always lose no matter who you fight. Paddy Pimblett is not by far the best fighter in the world, but he is a fighter. Most of them were robbers, but I also beat some people. [of his opponents] I'm sorry, but I respect him. I respect guys who enter the Octagon to fight professionally, so I respect that for him too, but he can't get past the first round. ”
