Wrexham needed a win against Forest Green and MK Dons and Barrow to drop points to secure automatic promotion to League One with two matches remaining.
Wrexham's victory was never in doubt as the team led 4-0 at half-time. MK Dons squandered an early lead with a 4-1 home defeat to Mansfield, while Barrow lost 3-0 to Gillingham. This sparked huge celebrations at Wrexham, with fans running onto the field after the final whistle despite a pre-match warning from the club to remain in the stands.
Wrexham are second in League Two, four points behind leaders Stockport, who secured promotion on Saturday. The top three teams will automatically be promoted to League One, with fourth-placed MK Dons unable to catch up with Wrexham.
Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney purchased the little-known club in 2021 for $2.5 million.
Last season they won the National League title and returned to the English Football League, the third division below the Premier League, for the first time in 15 years.
The team's journey is chronicled in the program 'Welcome to Wrexham'.
