COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — It's football time in the Buckeye State, so grab your scarlet and gray.
Ohio State's annual spring game kicks off at noon Saturday. NBC4 wants to make sure there's nothing stopping fans from rooting for their teams.
More than 50,000 fans are expected to cheer on the Buckeyes at Saturday's game. However, having many fans can generate a lot of traffic.
“If you go down Cannon Drive down to Herrick, you'll notice there's a lot of construction going on in that area,” said Chief Kimberly Spears-McNutt of the Ohio State University Police Department. “So if you’re coming off I-315 from the north or south, be prepared for that.”
The area from Cannon Drive to John Herrick Drive is still closed as it was last season. Construction is currently affecting the northwest side of the parking lot, so tailgating in that area is prohibited.
“We open at 8 o’clock, so get ready to come and cheer on the Buckeyes,” Spears-McNutt said.
The chief told us to arrive early to give us plenty of time. A West Campus shuttle will be in operation to transport fans to the stadium. She said safety would be the top priority.
“To ensure everyone’s safety, you can expect to see a visible police presence and our local, state and federal partners on campus as well as off-campus,” Spears McNutt said. he said.
He said people should remember the stadium bag policy and that it is a cashless system.Gates to enter open at 10am
