NBA legend Dennis Rodman isn't the only athlete in his family.
His daughter, soccer player Trinity Rodman, will be playing soccer for the U.S. women's national team this summer in Paris, France.
Trinity is a forward and a potential star player for the USWNT. This position made Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan global stars. She was only 18 years old when she was drafted No. 2 overall, making her the youngest NWSL player to be drafted at the time.
After joining the Washington Spirit soccer team in 2021, Trinity was named NWSL Rookie of the Year. In 2022, she has been nominated for the Ballon d'Or Feminine award, which recognizes the best female soccer player around the world. In 2023, she became the youngest player in NWSL history to record 10 assists and 10 goals in a regular season career, and the youngest player in Spirit history to appear in 50 games with her team.
“She's an all-out competitor,” former Spirit head coach Chris Ward told ESPN. “Her ability to withstand pressure and close contact with opponents, and her eagerness to help her team succeed, she is a game-changing player. Trinity seems a little subdued compared to her flamboyant father. But he still has that unique Rodman flair.
Rodman, who has been estranged from his biological father for years, said he wants to be a better father to his three children.
“The only big demon I have right now is trying to convince myself that I'm a good father,” he told ESPN in 2019. “It's very difficult for me to try to break out of that cycle.”
