The college football world is mourning Texas A&M-Commerce wide receiver Keith Miller after he was found dead in his apartment, the school announced.
Miller played two seasons with the team and was named team captain last season.
Authorities are continuing to investigate to determine the cause of Miller's death.
“We are heartbroken by the unexpected passing of Keith,” Texas A&M-Commerce head coach Clint Dolezal said in a statement. “Keith was a beloved father, son, teammate, and student-athlete. We extend our condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who loved him during this very difficult time. I would like to express my heartfelt condolences and condolences to you all.”
A three-star player originally committed to the University of Colorado, the Texas native rushed for 1,856 yards and 22 touchdowns during his high school football career at Colonie High School. He transferred to Commerce, where he played the past two seasons.
He had 39 receptions for four touchdowns and 457 yards, averaging 25.4 yards per game.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Keith Miller,” A&M-Commerce Athletic Director Jim Curry said.
“The A&M Commerce community extends our deepest condolences to Keith's family and all those who knew and loved him. We are at a loss for words at this time, but our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this tragedy.” Please keep it inside.”
