Michael Bisping is adamant that UFC 300 is better than any fight card in the history of the sport.
The highly anticipated third annual UFC 100th Anniversary event takes place Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, featuring a card loaded with champions and former division kings.
The groundbreaking PPV event will be headlined by 10 former champions and two current champions, and former middleweight champion turned commentator Bisping told TalkSPORT's MMA channel how big it is. I told you something.
“Show me a boxing card with this many champions on it from top to bottom,” he said.
“The first fight, Cody Garbrandt vs. Deiveson Figueiredo, is going to be outrageous. After that, they're all convincing and world class.”
“They're big popular names. Fans watching at home can see and relate to them right away.
“That happens all the time. If you look at the Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou fight, everyone was excited. But a lot of people look at the undercard and the prelims and don't know who they are. I had no idea if that was the case. Yeah, they're going to watch them go through the game. Have a beer or make a phone call.
“But these fights at UFC 300 have been glued to the screen since prelims because the fans know their background and history.”
Bisping isn't the only fan-favorite fighter looking forward to this landmark MMA event.
Former champ vs. champ Conor McGregor also can't wait for UFC 300 and gave a “guarantee” ahead of Saturday night's showdown.
“I guarantee you'll see absolute fireworks at @ufc 300!” The Notorious posted on X.
“Can't wait!! It airs this Saturday night on @espn PPV.”
The legendary Irish fighter was rumored to appear at Thursday's UFC 300 press conference, but did not make a cameo.
Instead, he tweeted praise for Dana White's decision to agree with the “life-changing” decision of all the fighters involved in this card.
UFC 300 promises to be the biggest night in mixed martial arts history, featuring an absolute card packed with mouth-watering matchups from top to bottom.
Alex Pereira will headline the event and will defend his light heavyweight title against Jamahal Hill.
Elsewhere, strawweight champion Zhang Weili takes on Yang Xiaonan, and Justin Gaethje takes on Max Holloway in a 155-pound BMF showdown.
Charles Oliveira vs. Arman Tsarukyan and Bo Niccal vs. Cody Brundage round out the rest of the main card following an evenly stacked qualifier and early qualifiers.
Jiri Prochaska vs. Aleksandar Rakic, Calvin Kattar vs. Aljamain Sterling, and Holly Holm vs. Kayla Harrison are the highlights on the preliminary card.
These bouts come after Deiveson Figueiredo, Cody Garbrandt, Bobby Green, Jessica Andrade and other UFC 100 and UFC 200 icons lost in early qualifying rounds.
The qualifying round is scheduled to start at 11pm (BST).
The main card then begins around 1am, with the main event starting between 4am and 5am.
