There are only three games left in the 2023-24 regular season, and while each team is fighting for a spot in the playoffs, there are still many unknowns for the Western Conference's 6th through 10th seeds.
But there's one thing Draymond Green is sure of. That means his Warriors would beat LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers if the teams met in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
“We've beaten the Lakers a few times in the past,” Green said Wednesday on “The Draymond Green Show.” “The Lakers are always a tough matchup. [Anthony Davis] It always makes a difference on the court. If we play them in a play-in situation where we can win, I'm very confident we can win.
“That being said, any time you play against AD and Bron in a one-game situation, it's tough. So there's a good chance they'll do that.''It's always tough because we're going to have more great nights together than bad ones.
“Still, that is our position and I am fully confident that if that happens we can take advantage of their actions and win the game.”
There is certainly a recency bias in Greene's confident claims, and that's to be expected.
Not only are the Warriors playing their best basketball after a tumultuous season, but Golden State has also won their last three games against Los Angeles.
The Warriors' only loss to the Lakers this season was in the first meeting, a 145-144 double-overtime loss at Chase Center in January.
But Green believes this momentum will carry over into a possible matchup against his good friend James and the Lakers in the postseason.
Los Angeles (45-35) is currently the No. 9 seed, while Golden State (44-35) is in the 10th and final play-in spot. If things don't change by Sunday night, it could be a do-or-die game for the Western Conference rivals.
