TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama's A-day game with new head coach Karen DeBoer is just three days away.
The free spring game at Bryant-Denny Stadium kicks off Saturday at 3 p.m.Gates open at noon and parking lot opens at 7 a.m.
UA Event Management Director Nick Frenz expects Bryant-Denny to draw the largest crowd for the A-Day game. He said the annual game will be different this year as fans will get to see DeBoer, his staff and players for the first time since Saban's departure.
“I think the fans are excited about something they haven't seen since 2007,” Frenz said. “I think fans are looking forward to seeing how the offense and defense will operate. That will give us an idea of what next season will be like.”
Frenz said what fans should know before the game is that public parking on campus is free on A-Day. Also, UA's clear bag policy applies to his A-Day.
Free tailgating is located on the west side of the quad and no reservations are required. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No food or alcoholic beverages may be brought in from outside.
Frenz said security is also a priority to ensure the safety of all fans.
“The safety and security of our fans is our top priority, so we are treating it as we would any other game,” Frenz said. “This means that security around the stadium, in the quad, and at road closures will all be the same as for a normal game.”
UA officials expect more than 50,000 fans to attend the game.
