The Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) on Tuesday called for a new organization to remove the International Boxing Association and take over the sport's global mandate.
Last year, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided to strip the IBA of its recognition, saying it had not completed reforms on governance, finance and ethical issues.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the IBA's appeal earlier this month.
The IOC then asked national boxing federations and national Olympic committees (NOCs) to find a partner international federation by next year at the latest to continue the sport at the Olympics.
“After waiting for the appeal in CAS and confirming the IOC's decision, there was no option to follow the constitution,” ASOIF President Francesco Ricci Vitti said at a press conference.

“Currently we are waiting for a replacement organization. Boxing is a very important sport.”
The IOC is hosting this summer's boxing tournament for the 2024 Paris Games, but the Olympic body has repeatedly said it cannot continue. Los Angeles will host the Olympics in 2028.
Rival organization World Boxing, which plans to seek approval from Olympic organizers to continue the sport on the 2028 Olympic program on behalf of the IBA, has insisted it should become a new federation affiliated with the IOC.
“This is up to the IOC. We want the alternative body to represent a real sports body, a national body,” Rich Vitti said.
IBA said it was disappointed with ASOIF's decision.
“While this result is deeply disappointing, the IBA would like to underline its unwavering commitment to the sport of boxing and to the great athletes and coaches around the world as we begin our journey towards recognition,” the IBA said in a statement.
