Longtime boxing trainer Ajaz Khan of Wasaga Beach is facing 52 criminal charges as part of an investigation into historic sexual assault allegations by Peel Regional Police.
Charges against Khan, now 68, include sexual assault, sexual interference, corruption of minors and production of child pornography.
Khan trained at his King of the Ring gym in Brampton, and police say he sexually assaulted multiple young victims while he was the gym's president and owner. It is claimed that
Investigators believe there may be more victims and are appealing for anyone who has not yet identified them to come forward with information.
Court documents date the alleged crimes between 2009 and 2012.
Khan has trained several state and national champions at his Brampton gym.
Police said the suspect was arrested in late March after search warrants were executed in Brampton and Wasaga Beach.
Boxing Ontario has since announced on its website that it has suspended all activities for Ajaz Khan.
The statement read in part: “The protection of our members and our community is paramount, and as the governing body for boxing in Ontario, we take these responsibilities extremely seriously.
Boxing Ontario has suspended Ajaz Khan from all Boxing Ontario activities with immediate effect following news that criminal charges for sexual offenses involving a minor have been filed. ”
