World boxing icon Azuma Nelson has revealed that he gave up boxing after his son Dalvin Azuma Nelson Jr. tried it early in his life.
In an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV, the boxing Hall of Famer explained that he quit the sport because his son found love in another profession.
Azuma Nelson also added that her son was unable to meet the demands and dedication of professional boxing, which is why he gave up on the sport.
The legendary boxer welcomed his son's decision and said he would continue to fulfill his role as a father in his chosen new field.
“He realized that boxing wasn't for kids from wealthy families. It's a sport for hustlers and people who didn't have a very good background. It's not like I took a hit, so he realized that boxing wasn't for kids from wealthy families. I'm not worried that he quit, he was on the receiving end of it and realized he couldn't bear the blow.
“I taught him boxing at a young age and he grew up with boxing, but later he realized he could never box again. It's a difficult sport that requires dedication and determination. 4 in the morning Sometimes I wake up and go for a jog, and a few hours later I go to the gym,” Azuma said.
Azuma Nelson also talked about her fighting strategies, including not letting her opponent get upset.
“I never allowed my opponents to make me angry, because once you get angry, you lose everything. No matter what you do, the moment you get angry, everything goes out the window, so you can't resist provocations. Must be.
“Some boxers deliberately tried to provoke me, but I tried to stay calm and concentrate on the fight,” he added.
