“I have been performing professionally for five years, two of which were during a global pandemic, and I was building my reputation playing small hall shows.
“I was just trying to break through, I had a journeyman fight, I was pushing to a 50/50 fight.
“I lost all my money because I got into a fight and the fight was canceled two weeks later. I had no income during the lockdown, but I was training.”
During his time away from the sport, Morey spent time building a significant following on social media, engaging with fans through voiceovers and in-depth analysis of boxing.
Moreover, he seized the opportunity to share his knowledge abroad.
“It happened out of the blue,” Morey revealed, “I had just played my fifth or sixth pro fight.
“I had just boxed with Vonz Alexander, a very accomplished craftsman, and I was just at the start of my professional career.
“Marco, a good friend of mine and a family friend, called me and said, 'Look, there's an opportunity for you.'
“I thought it was a local sponsor, but he told me that he had worked in the Maldives before, on an island called Soneva Fushi, which had been voted the best island in the Maldives. .
“I was like, 'Oh, okay, what's this about?'” Why are you telling me about this?
“And he said, 'Why don't you go teach them boxing because they don't have a boxing instructor?'
Davis asked. “So who was there? Who did you meet and who did you train?
Morley replied: “There's a lot of people out there, I've trained hundreds of people, but the most famous one is probably Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things.
“Millie Bobby Brown has actually boxed, but I think she boxed as an amateur. Yeah, she was very good, very, very good.
“Hand speed, well, she was only 15, very young.
“She had pop in her shots, she moved well, and she had a great family.”
