A Long Island MMA and UFC fighter plans to run 100 miles to raise money for the families of fallen heroes.
MMA fighter Chris Wade and UFC fighter Dennis Bermudez are raising money for the family of NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller.
“When I found out he had a 1-year-old boy, I really said to myself, 'I have to do something,'” Wade said. to do. ”
Initially, the pair planned to run 100 miles in April to challenge their own physical fitness, but they found other motivations for running.
“Do it for Diller,” Bermudez said.
They have set up a GoFundMe to raise money for Detective Diller's family and hope others will come forward for the Diller family and spread the word about the fundraiser.
“The more people we can get involved in, the more people will share the work with their supporters, friends and family, and the more people will donate,” Wade said.
Even if running isn't your thing, there are still ways to support the Diller family.
“We're hoping that we can get some attention to it and start collecting donations as we complete the run,” Wade said.
Wade and Bermudez are asking people to post on social media in some way how they ran, walked or reached 100 miles to draw attention to the family's GoFundMe.
