Yoel Angeloni is an Italian boxer who spent his formative years in Cuba.
He will face Michael Williams on April 10th. wednesday night battle It will be broadcast live on ProBox TV from Plant City, Florida.
The 20-year-old welterweight (2-0, 1 KO) will turn pro in 2022. He competed on the undercard of the first fight between George Kambosos Jr. and Devin Haney in Melbourne, Australia. Since then, he has only fought once, in March 2023, following a win over Ken Aitken with a win over Alexander Calixto.
Angeloni, who is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, hopes to continue working after the “best training camp of my life.” By the way, Williams (2-1, 1 KO) will be returning to the ring for the first time since 2019.
“At this point, I see my career as a new era, a new adventure and a new career,” Angeloni told BoxingScene through an interpreter. “We had a great camp. It's been a long time since we've been here, but we want to put on a great show for the people.”
Angeloni trains with Jorge Capetillo in a Las Vegas gym, and he is a true citizen of the world. Born in Rome, Italy, he spent most of his youth in Cuba, where he learned boxing.
“I was born in Italy. When I was three years old I [moved] To Cuba,” he recalled. “From the age of 3 to 14 I was in Cuba. I did most of my boxing and school work there. I was on the Cuban national team.
“When I was 14, I moved to Italy and won the European Championship there.”
Angeloni achieved great results as an amateur. According to the fighter himself, he had 140 wins and only 2 losses. After traveling the world as an amateur, his past reflected his present. After his professional debut in Australia, he fought in Canada.His third professional fight will be in the United States.
“When I decided to go pro, it felt like a dream come true,” he recalled. “We've never had a game like this one. We've had a great camp, a long camp, but you're going to see a different Yoel Angeloni in this game.”
My goal in life is to fight in Rome. The Italian capital has some good regional matches, but Angeloni wants to bring the big matches back to his hometown.
“I want to bring the championship back to Italy,” he said. “Maybe I'll have a title fight in front of the people in my hometown of Rome and put on a great show.”
