Colorado Springs, Colorado. – University Field Hockey Assistant Coach Maddie Hinch was named to the USA Field Hockey coaching staff as goaltending coach late last month. She will be an integral member of the coaching staff for the 2024 Paris Olympic team.
Hinch, a gold medal Olympian with Great Britain, spent one season with the Huskies as an assistant coach in 2023, working specifically with the team's goalkeepers. Hinch joined UConn after retiring from international play with England and Great Britain. She made her debut in 2008 and then in 2010 she earned a full-time contract with GB Her Hockey. She established herself as her national team's first-choice goalkeeper, and she made over 150 appearances for England and Great Britain. She is also a member of HC Tilburg, a club hockey team in the Netherlands. She won the FIH Goalkeeper of the Year Award in 2016, 2017 and 2018, and was recently recognized for her contribution to hockey with an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2023 New Year Honors List. ) was awarded the honor. .
