Texas A&M's 2024 season will be the first for new head coach Mike Elko. He will succeed starting quarterback Connor Weigman, a player he helped recruit to the program when he was the Aggies' defensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021.
Under former head coach Jimbo Fisher, quarterback health was very noticeable, coupled with a notable lack of growth during his six-year tenure. This was one of the many reasons the university ended up burning through his $77.5 million buyout fund and moving on and starting fresh.
Whether Connor Weigman recovers from his injury after four games into the 2023 season will likely determine his longevity this season. Elko and his staff are very confident in his progress this spring, but backups senior Jalen Henderson and redshirt sophomore Marcel Reed are in 2024 when something happens. It plays a role in case.
